Text: Luke 22:47–62
Big Idea: What you surrender in the garden determines how you stand when the
pressure comes.
I. The Crowd Always Comes After the Garden (22:47–48)
Crowd arrives → Judas betrays with a kiss.
Jesus’ response: composure, clarity, authority.
Betrayal fulfills God’s plan (Psalm 41:9; Acts 2:23).
II. Pressure Reveals What Prayer Produced (22:49–53)
Disciples react → Peter cuts off servant’s ear; Jesus heals.
Contrast: Reaction vs. submission; fear vs. peace.
III. Distance Leads to Denial (22:54–60)
Peter follows at a distance → denies Jesus 3 times.
Observation: Distance breeds compromise.
IV. The Look That Restores (22:61–62)
Jesus looks at Peter → Peter remembers, weeps, begins restoration.
God sees failure but restores.
When pressure comes:
Stand near Christ
Confess Him boldly
Trust Him fully
He remains faithful, even when we falter
