Don’t Live There, Learn There

You shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, that He might humble you, testing you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.- Deuteronomy 8:2

“Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
19 “Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18–19

28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Prepositional Statement (BIG IDEA) – God never wastes a season but He never calls us to live in one He’s already redeemed.

  1. Recognize Where God Has Already Led You (But Not to Relive It) – Deuteronomy 8:2

What God is not saying:

  • Go back to the wilderness
  • Rebuild tents in the desert
  • Relive your suffering
  • Define yourself by your struggle

Truth – God uses where you’ve been to reveal what’s been in you.

  1. Release What God Is No Longer Doing – Isaiah 43:18–19

Truth – Yesterday’s deliverance can become today’s distraction

  1. Redeem the Story God is Still Writing – Romans 8:28 “THEOLOICAL RUNWAY”.
  • Creation is groaning
  • Believers are groaning
  • Life is heavy, broken, and unresolved

PAUL IS DESCRIBING THE TENSION OF THE “ALREADY NOT YET!”

  • Saved, but still suffering
  • Redeemed, but still waiting
  • Hopeful, but still hurting.
